LORDELO DO OURO

The proposal for the regeneration of this public space focuses on improving the urban environment, strengthening its identity and character while protecting natural systems, restoring the water cycle and its natural flows, and enhancing pedestrian connections. The aim is to maximise the use, accessibility and functionality of the existing public spaces.

The concept is structured around three fundamental principles: Structure, Character and Social Catalysts. To create a resilient and lasting framework, the proposal establishes a robust spatial structure capable of providing a coherent circulation network while defining the overall organisation of the area.

The renaturalisation of the Ribeira da Granja plays a central role in the project, creating three distinct environments: the two neighbourhoods, focused on the everyday needs of their residents, and the Ribeira da Granja itself, defined by its natural character. By revitalising the central part of the site, the stream becomes a green and wet ecological corridor with a distinctive identity.

The activation of the two neighbourhoods is driven by a strong concentration of attractive and healthy programmes within each community. These include sports facilities, play areas and playgrounds, multifunctional squares and community gardens. These active spaces are complemented by quieter areas for rest and relaxation along the Ribeira da Granja, creating a diverse public-space network capable of bringing together the different generations who live here.
